Aging TRACTS (ATRACTS)

ATRACTS LogoAging TRACTS (ATRACTS) is a new study that seeks to learn about brain and behavioral changes in middle aged and older Veterans. We hope to better understand the impact combat exposure has on brain function and risk of Alzheimer’s Disease in individuals who have been deployed. We will examine whether combat exposure in early adulthood contributes to the risk for cognitive impairment and development of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia. This opens the potential for interventions to reduce these conditions in military Veterans. This study involves the collection of background and health information, a blood draw and collection of physiological information, a neuropsychological assessment, a psychological assessment, and a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of your brain with an electroencephalogram (EEG).

We are actively recruiting new participants and are looking for Veterans with and without combat exposure between the ages of 50 – 80 years old.
