Project Manager, TRACTS
Wally Anthony Musto, CMSgt (Ret) USAF

I have over 35 years of military service, retiring from the Rhode Island Air National Guard in June of 2006. During my time in the military, I worked in the Military Human Resource Career field and earned a promotion to Chief Master Sergeant (CMSGT E-9) while serving as the Military Personnel Management Officer on the staff of the Adjutant General for the state of Rhode Island. From September 2006 to December 2009, I served as the Project Manager for a research study, “Identification of Risk Factors for PTSD,” at Brown University. In a two-year period we successfully recruited and tested 238 service members. For the past 14 years, I have served as the Project Manager for the “Translational Research Center for Traumatic Brain Injury and Stress Disorders” (TRACTS) at the VA Boston Healthcare System. To date, we have almost 700 OIF/OEF /OND service members who have committed to 10 – 12 hours of testing in an effort to assist medical science learn more about stress disorders and mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). I thoroughly enjoy my position as Project Manager and liaison to our service members, and I look forward to continuing my efforts as TRACTS Project Manager as we move toward our overarching goals of better understanding and treating the medical, cognitive, and psychological needs of this cohort of veterans.
